Juneteenth.
I will start with a Black Queer person's words because of course!
@YesAurielle (who is off social media, but you can follow them here: https://auriellemarie.com)
“ Gaslighting is making Juneteenth a federal holiday while banning critical race theory in schools, destabilizing COVID mutual aid efforts, refusing to defund and abolish police, and blocking reparations legislation. Go play in someone else's face, America.”
I tell myself that the best thing I can do is to be silent today. Yet, I work in mutual aid; I have made it my deep commitment to stand by my Black friends and collective members. Over the years, I have supported, encouraged, and allowed "my" funds to flow through to many dearly loved people in my life, so I am here again shouting that out! It would be fantastic if you ever wanted to learn more about mutual aid in a Zoom room. The links to all I offer are here AND most importantly the go fund me where you can allow funds to flow through is the first link below:
The best way to set up this meeting is to email me at bridget@expressivearts.work. Also, many folks on this list might have today off. I am seeing clients, starting with new folks, and wrapping up some work with others, so I am working today. It's such a curious gift, the new Federal Holiday. And yet, as so much of what I read states, how far have we come? You can check out my Instagram highlights and stories to see what I am seeing. It is a time to reflect as white folks.
What are you doing?
What have you done?
What will you do?
Tune in later this week as I share more links for folks in my beloved LBGTQ family.
For now, here is who I am tuning into today, and I have been tuning into many of these educator’s words for years now:

Who's missing?
Who has your ear?
Peace, love, and the spirit of honoring the legacy and power of Black folks on this land forever. Juneteenth is not a celebration or a day of rest for white folks.
Warmly,
Bridget
reading Prentis' book now. :)
